Welcome to Education at Remsen Union

The Remsen Union Community School District has a stable student enrollment of approximately 370 students. The district is served by 40 teachers, two administrators, and numerous support staff. At Remsen-Union the administration, Board of Education, teachers and staff share in the commitment to strive toward excellence in all our academic and extracurricular activities to enable all students to reach their full potential.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. SENIORS YOUR LUNCH ACCOUNT NEEDS TO BE PAID BEFORE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO CHECK OUT!
  2. CONGRATULATIONS to Allison Schreiner! She has qualified for the finals in the 200m Dash at State Track. She will run on Saturday afternoon. Good Luck, Allison!
  3. Drivers Ed will have class on Wednesday, May 30 at 2:30 pm.
  4. Student Council petition forms are now available from Mrs. Schubert for next year’s Student Council. Any eligible students grades 8-11 who want to be on Student Council must complete and return their form to Mrs. Schubert by May 22. To be eligible, you must have two teacher recommendations and a completed petition form.
  5. Reminder: 2011-2012 yearbooks are still on sale until the end of the year. Pick up an order form from Ms. Nystel today!
  6. Any Junior or Senior interested in summer custodial employment with the school, please pick up an application in the main office.
  7. Any student who would be interested in taking tickets or running the scoreboard for baseball and softball games this summer please see Mr. Neuberger. These are paid positions.
  8. Please return all library books and take care of library fines as you can not be signed out from the library at the end of the year!
  9. You can now sign up for Speed and Agility Camp this summer. Speed and Agility starts Tuesday, June 5th at 9:00 am. To register go to this website: http://cnosfoundation.org/ssmf-velocity-2/
  10. For those thinking of going on the HAVE -DC/NY trip we still have room for you!!!
  11. HAVE members get your tee shirt in. Sign off with Mrs. Patterson when you bring it.
  12. HAVE member get your pop tabs, box tops and soup labels in. You need to get them before check-out at the end of the year.
  13. HS Volleyball players - If you are looking for camps to go to this summer, brochures are hanging on Ms. Keenan’s wall in her classroom.
  14. Any student carrying a D, F, or I in any subject will NOT be allowed to use any electronic devices during study halls. If they are found, they WILL be confiscated
  15. The Remsen-Union Family Connections group has started the ‘R-U F.C. ACT-24 Club’ to recognize students who have achieved a 24, or better, on their ACT composite score. Students eligible for the R-U F.C. ACT 24-Club, please pick up/bring your signed consent to Ms. Mikkelson, asap. Family Connections would like to recognize you at the awards program Wednesday and would like to bring you pizza on Friday. Thanks.
  16. 2012-13 HS Schedules were given out last week. Students please see Ms. Mikkelson to make adjustments to your schedules. HS teacher rosters will be given out early next week.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS

The Remsen-Union school district is now accepting nominations for the 2012 Teacher of the Year. Anyone associated with the Remsen-Union school district may nominate a teacher. Nomination forms can be found by clicking the link below.

NEW CONSTRUCTION PAGE ADDED

You can new view pictures of the construction of the new multipurpose room and the new locker room area. The pictures will be updated as construction permits.

 

Sign Up for District Text Announcements

Remsen-Union is using a new messaging system this year to relay important announcements. The system is through the Le Mars Daily Sentinel and will typically send out the alert or information within 30 seconds to one minute. If you would like this free system on your cell phone, go the Le Mars Sentinel web site http://www.lemarssentinel.com/ and click the text alert tab.
